ELIMINATE FLASHING IN THE
PAINTING PROCESS You may be surprised to know that during painting processes, the effects of paint drying too quickly can
be as detrimental as paint that does not dry quickly enough. Cincinnati Fiberglass, Inc. experienced this aggravating problem, commonly known as ”flashing”
during the application of a primer coat to tractor trailer sleeper tops. Flashing creates the need for additional sanding which affects quality and profitability. Because the problem
was essentially seasonal, workers soon realized that the humidity in the air related directly to the success or failure of the painting operation.
Searching for humidifying systems in the Thomas Register, the paint room supervisor
found Vortec. After a brief sales call, the company purchased and installed two Humidifying Sprayvectors and the problem was immediately solved. Since humidity levels
in the plant are now monitored, the sprayvectors are only used when relative humidity drops below critical levels.
SPEED THE COOLING PROCESS AFTER POWDER COAT CURING Curtain Transvectors or Round Transvectors are used in many different industries to cool down hot
component parts or a hot process by flowing large amounts of room temperature air over the hot surfaces.
One example of cooling a hot process using either Curtain Transvectors or Round Transvectors would be for the application of powder paint. Part of the powder paint process requires the coated parts or panels to travel through an oven on a
hanging conveyor. As the items travel through the oven, the heat melts the powder and allows the paint to form a uniform surface and penetrate the surface
of the part, forming an extremely durable and impact resistant finish.
When the items exit the oven, they must be cooled down before they travel to the next part of the
process. In order to shorten the cooling time (and make more product in the same amount of time), Curtain Transvectors or Round
Transvectors can be used to flow room temperature air across the parts to speed up the cooling process.
